" Gift from Bacchus...
...mountains with wine in magnificent row"
Decanius Magnus Ausonius
Roman poet in the year 386 in his poem "Mosella" |

Pulchra Villa - a beautiful ancient roman country house gave its name to the place.
Its pitoresc location on a peninsula of the River Mosel appeared already in the poems of the Roman poet Ausonius.
2000 years ago the Romans brought the viticulture to the Mosel region; it shaped landscape, art, culture, architecture and humans.
Nowadays one can still find witnesses of this extremely rich history at every step and turn.
